We support student-lead research projects that have the potential to make a lasting impact on the world using biology. Through mentorship, resources, and funding, we lower the bar-of-entry for passionate undergraduates to pursue independent research.

Gamifying Science Literacy
Bubble is an interdisciplinary project founded by students at the University of Michigan who are motivated to make the world of STEM more accessible. Our goal is to develop an interactive website to guide students through the process of reading biological/medical research articles and improve their science literacy skills. Our team has three subunits: curriculum design, software development, and community outreach. We have collaborated with organizations such as optiMize, V1, Ross Business+Impact, and the Comprehensive Scholars Program. We are looking to expand the team in order to further our prototype and deliver it to students affiliated with our community partners.
Building Computers out of Neurons
Pink Inference is a student-founded start-up working to build computers out of neurons. Based on the "DishBrain" system developed by Cortical Labs, we aim to replicate and advance upon their study, embodying neurons as the agent in a reinforcement learning problem. Our current efforts focus on engineering the cost-effective experimental platform with the goal of an operational system by next year. We are looking for motivated individuals who can commit as reliable contributors to the team. This is a great opportunity to familiarize yourself with the lab and be involved with in vitro electrophysiology and optogenetics research.
